유전자 개요
PIGR는 면역글로불린(immunoglobulin) 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)의 일원이다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 다면역글로불린(poly-Ig) 수용체(receptor)는 상피세포(epithelial cells)의 기저외측면(basolateral surface)에서 다량체 면역글로불린(polymeric immunoglobulin) 분자와 결합하고, 이 복합체는 세포를 가로질러 정상면(apical surface)으로 분비된다. 이 유전자의 여러 SNP(single nucleotide polymorphism)는 면역글로불린 A 신증(immunoglobulin A nephropathy)과 유의미한 연관성을 보였다.
