유전자 개요

PF4는 CXC 케모카인(CXC chemokine) 계열의 단백질을 암호화한다. 활성화된 혈소판(platelet)의 알파 과립에서 헤파린(heparin)에 높은 친화성을 가진 동종사량체(homotetramer) 형태로 방출되어 혈소판 응집에 관여하며, 여러 다른 세포 유형에 대해 화학주성(chemotaxis)을 나타낸다. 또한 조혈, 혈관신생, T 세포 기능의 저해제로 작용하고 열대열원충(Plasmodium falciparum)에 대한 항균 활성을 보인다.
