유전자 개요
PDIA3 유전자는 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)에 존재하는 단백질을 암호화하며, 이 단백질은 렉틴(lectin) 샤페론인 칼레티쿨린(calreticulin)과 칼넥신(calnexin)과 상호작용하여 새로 합성된 당단백질(glycoprotein)의 접힘을 조절한다. 한때 포스포리파제(phospholipase)로 여겨졌으나, 실제로는 단밄질 이황화 이성질체효소(protein disulfide isomerase) 활성을 지니며, 렉틴과 형성한 복합체를 통해 당단백질 기질에서 이황화 결합(disulfide bond) 형성을 촉진한다. 또한 분자 샤페론(molecular chaperone)으로 작용하여 단밄질 응집체(protein aggregate)의 생성을 억제한다.
