유전자 개요
이 유전자는 penta-EF-hand 단백질 계열에 속하는 칼슘 결합 단백질을 지정한다. 칼슘 결합은 동종이합체 형성과 다른 단백질 파트너 결합에 필요한 구조 변화에 중요하다. 이 유전자 산물은 T 세포 수용체(T cell receptor)-, Fas-, 그리고 글루코코르티코이드 유도 세포자멸사(apoptosis)에 참여한다. 하지만 이 유전자 산물이 결핍된 마우스에서는 세포자멸사가 차단되지 않아, 이 유전자 산물이 기능적으로 중복될 수 있음을 시사한다. 이 유전자에서는 다수의 아이소폼을 지정하는 대체 접합 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 관찰되었으며, 이 유전자의 유사 위유전자(pseudogene) 또한 염색체 5번 단완에 위치한다.
