PDCD1LG2는 활성화된 티 세포(T cell) 증식, 인터루킨-10(interleukin-10) 생성, 제2형 인터페론(type II interferon) 생성을 음성 조절하는 과정에 관여한다. 세포막(plasma membrane)에 위치하고 그 바깥쪽 면에서 활성을 보일 것으로 예측된다. 폐결핵(pulmonary tuberculosis)의 바이오마커(biomarker)이기도 하다.
