유전자 개요

NFE2L2 유전자는 기본 류신 지퍼(bZIP) 단백질 계열에 속하는 전사인자(transcription factor)를 암호화한다. 이 전사인자는 프로모터에 항산화 반응 요소(antioxidant response elements, ARE)를 포함하는 유전자들을 조절하며, 이들 중 다수는 자유 라디칼 생성을 포함하는 손상 및 염증(inflammation) 반응에 관여하는 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 다수의 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 규명되었다.
