유전자 개요
NCOR1은 티로이드 호르몬(thyroid-hormone) 및 레티노산(retinoic acid) 수용체에 대한 리간드(ligand) 비의존적 전사(transcription) 억제를 매개하는 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 염색질(chromatin) 응축을 촉진하고 전사 기구의 접근을 차단함으로써 억제 활동을 수행하며, 히스톤 탈아세틸라아제(histone deacetylase)와 효모 Sin3p 유사 전사 조절인자를 포함하는 복합체를 구성한다. 이 유전자는 17번 염색체의 Charcot-Marie-Tooth 및 Smith-Magenis 증후군(syndrome) 임계 구역 사이에 위치하고, 선택적 스플라이싱(alternate splicing)에 의해 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)이 생성되며, 위유전자(pseudogenes)는 17번과 20번 염색체에서 발견된다.
