핵심 단백질인 뉴클레올린(Nucleolin, NCL)은 진핵 세포의 핵소체(nucleolus)에서 발견되는 인단백질(phosphoprotein)로, 리보솜(ribosome)의 합성과 성숙에 관여합니다. 이 단백질은 핵소체의 치밀 섬유질 영역에 주로 위치합니다. 사람 NCL 유전자는 13개의 인트론(intron)과 14개의 엑손(exon)으로 구성되며 약 11kb의 길이를 가집니다. NCL 유전자의 11번 인트론은 U20으로 명명된 작은 핵소체 RNA(small nucleolar RNA)를 암호화합니다. [RefSeq 제공, 2008년 7월]
