유전자 개요
NCF4가 암호화하는 단백질은 슈퍼옥사이드(superoxide)를 생성하는 식세포(phagocyte) NADPH-산화효소(NADPH-oxidase) 효소(enzyme) 복합체의 세포질 조절 성분이며, 주로 골수성(myeloid) 세포에서 발현한다. 이 단백질은 호중구(neutrophil) 세포질 인자 2(NCF2/p67-phox) 및 호중구 세포질 인자 1(NCF1/p47-phox)과 복합체를 형성하고, 세포 자극 시 소 G 단백질(G protein) RAC1과 함께 막(membrane)으로 이동하여 플라보사이토크롬 b(fl avocytochrome b)를 활성화한다. 또한 PX 도메인(PX domain)이 PI(3) 키나아제(kinase)의 인지질(phospholipid) 생성물에 결합함으로써 PI(3) 키나아제 신호전달에 관여하며, 단백질의 인산화(phosphorylation)는 효소 활성을 부조절한다.
