유전자 개요
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 배아줄기세포(embryonic stem cell, ES cell)의 증식, 유지, 다능성(pluripotency)에 관여하는 DNA 결합 홈오박스 전사인자(DNA binding homeobox transcription factor)입니다. 암호화된 단백질은 배아줄기세포의 분화를 억제할 수 있으며, 분화하는 세포에서는 자체 발현을 자동 억제(autorepress)할 수도 있습니다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 두 개의 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었습니다.
