유전자 개요
이 유전자는 미오신(myosin) 계열 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 일반적인 비근육 미오신으로, 비정형 미오신-14(unconventional myosin-14, MYO14)와 혼동해서는 안 된다. 미오신은 액틴(actin) 의존성 운동 단백질로, 세포질 분열, 세포 이동, 세포 극성 조절 등 다양한 기능을 수행한다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 상염색체 우성 난청의 한 형태를 일으킨다. 이 유전자에는 다양한 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체가 존재한다.
