유전자 개요

MTA1은 전이(metastasis) 세포, 특히 유방 선암(adenocarcinoma) 세포주에서 발현하는 유전자를 선별하는 과정에서 확인된 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 유전자의 발현은 적어도 두 종류의 암종(carcinoma)에서 전이 가능성과 관련이 있으나, 많은 정상 조직에서도 발현된다. 이 유전자 산물은 뉴클레오솜(nucleosome) 리모델링 데아세틸아제(deacetylase) 복합체 NuRD의 일부로 처음 제안되었으며, 염색질(chromatin) 리모델링을 통한 전사(transcription) 조절에 관여하고 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 두 가지 변이체(transcript variant)가 확인되었다.
