유전자 개요
MICA 유전자는 고도로 다형성인 주요 조직 적합 복합체 클래스 I 연관 단백질 A(major histocompatability complex class I chain-related protein A)를 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 세포 표면에 발현되지만, 표준적인 클래스 I 분자와는 달리 베타-2-마이크로글로불린(beta-2-microglobulin)과 연관되지 않는 것으로 보인다. 또한, NKG2-D 타입 II 막(membrane) 단백질 수용체(receptor)의 리간드(ligand)로 작용한다. 이 단백질은 장 상피 감마 델타 T세포에 의해 광범위하게 인식되는 스트레스 유발 항원(antigen)으로 기능한다. 이 유전자의 변이는 건선 1 및 건선성 관절염(arthritis) 발병 위험 증가와 관련이 있으며, MICA 관련 항체 및 리간드의 방출은 미확정 중요 단클론성 감마병증에서 다발성 골수종으로의 진행에 관여한다. 이 유전자의 대체 스플라이싱은 여러 전사체 변이체들을 결과한다.
