유전자 개요
이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 알킬화제로부터 세포를 보호하는 DNA 복구 단백질이다. 이 단백질은 O(6)-알킬구아닌 및 DNA의 다른 메틸화된 부분에서 메틸기를 자신의 분자로 옮기는 반응을 촉매하여 독성이 있는 병변을 복구한다. 해당 유전자의 프로모터 메틸화는 대장암, 폐암, 림프종, 교모세포종을 포함한 여러 암 유형과 관련이 있다.
