유전자 개요
이 단백질은 진핵생물 게놈 복제 개시에 필수적인 고도로 보존된 미니 염색체 유지 단백질(MCM) 중 하나이다. MCM 단백질로 형성된 6량체 단백질 복합체는 전 복제 복합체(pre_RC)의 핵심 구성 요소이며, 복제 분기점 형성 및 다른 DNA 복제 관련 단백질 모집에 관여할 수 있다. 이 단백질과 MCM2, 4, 6 단백질로 구성된 MCM 복합체는 DNA 헬리카아제(helicase) 활성을 가지며, DNA 풀림 효소(enzyme)로 작용할 수 있다.
