유전자 개요

이 유전자에 의해 암호화되는 단백질은 MAP 키나아제(MAP kinase) 계열의 구성원입니다. MAP 키나아제는 여러 생화학적 신호에 대한 통합 지점 역할을 하여 증식, 분화, 전사 조절 및 발달과 같은 광범위한 세포 과정에 관여합니다. 이 키나아제는 신경계의 일부 뉴런에서 특이적으로 발현되며, 트레오닌과 티로신 인산화(phosphorylation)에 의해 활성화됩니다. 생쥐에서 이 유전자의 표적 삭제(deletion)는 스트레스 유발 신경 세포자멸사(apoptosis)에서 역할을 할 수 있음을 시사합니다. 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 대체 전사체 변이체가 이 유전자에서 기술되었습니다. 최근 연구는 이 유전자에서 번역 종결 신호 읽기 틀 넘김(translational readthrough)과 대안적 프레임 내 번역 종결 코돈 사용을 통한 추가적인 C 말단 연장 이소형 발현의 증거를 제공했습니다.
