유전자 개요
미세소관 결합 단백질(microtubule-associated protein) 가족에 속하는 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 가족 단백질은 신경 발생(neurogenesis)에 필수적인 미세소관 조립에 관여하며, 쥐와 생쥐의 유사한 유전자 산물은 수상돌기(dendrite)에 풍부한 신경 세포(neuron) 특이적 세포골격 단백질로서 수상돌기 형태를 결정하고 안정화하는 데 역할을 한다. 선택적 접합을 통해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 변이체가 보고되었다.
