MACC1은 간세포 성장인자(HGF; MIM 142409)-HGF 수용체(HGFR, 또는 MET; MIM 164860) 경로의 주요 조절자이다. 이 경로는 세포 성장, 상피-간질 전이, 혈관 신생, 세포 이동성, 침윤성 및 전이에 관여한다. 대장암(MIM 114500) 검체에서 MACC1의 발현은 전이 형성 및 전이 없는 생존에 대한 독립적인 예후 지표이다.
