유전자 개요
이 유전자는 저밀도 지질단백질 수용체(low density lipoprotein receptor, LDLR) 계열 구성원을 암호화한다. 저밀도 지질단백질 수용체는 특정 리간드의 용해소 분해를 위한 신호 전달과 수용체 매개 세포내이입 모두에서 역할을 수행하는 세포 표면 단백질이다. 이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 Reelin 신호 전달을 매개하여 발달 중 신경 세포 이동에 중요한 역할을 하며, 콜레스테롤 수송 단백질인 아포지질단백질 E의 수용체로도 기능한다. 이 유전자의 발현은 주요 우울 장애의 표지자가 될 수 있다. 여러 동종 형태를 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이가 이 유전자에서 관찰되었다.
