유전자 개요
이 유전자는 리포다당류(lipopolysaccharide)에 의해 유도되는 TNF-알파 인자(lipopolysaccharide-induced TNF-alpha factor)를 암호화한다. 이 인자는 DNA 결합 단백질로, TNF-알파 유전자의 프로모터(promoter) 영역에 직접 결합하여 TNF-알파 발현을 매개할 수 있다. 또한, 리포다당류는 단핵구와 대식세포를 강력하게 자극하여 종양 괴사 인자-알파(tumor necrosis factor-alpha, TNF-alpha) 및 기타 염증 매개체의 분비를 유발한다. p53에 의해 전사(transcription)가 유도되며, p53 유도 세포사멸 경로와 관련이 있다.
