유전자 개요
이 유전자는 주로 단핵구와 B세포에서 발현되는 면역수용체(immunoreceptor) 계열의 구성원을 암호화한다. 또한 낮은 수준으로 수지상세포와 자연살해세포에서도 발현된다. 암호화된 단백질은 수지상세포의 분화와 항원(antigen) 제시를 억제하고 선천 면역 반응을 억압하는 활성화 수용체(activating receptor)이다. 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체(spliced transcript variant)가 발견되었다. 이 유전자는 염색체 19번의 관련 유전자 군집에 위치하며, 염색체 3번에는 이 유전자의 위유전자(pseudogene)가 존재한다.
