이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 류신 풍부 반복 함유 수용체(leucine-rich repeat-containing receptor, LGR) 계열의 G 단백질 연결 7막 단백질 막 수용체(G protein-coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor, GPCR) 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily) 구성원입니다. 해당 단백질은 R-spondin의 수용체이며, 정상 Wnt 신호 전달 경로에 관여합니다. 이 단백질은 배아 발생 후 성체 장 줄기세포의 형성과 유지에 역할을 합니다. 이 유전자에는 다양한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이가 존재합니다.
