LCAT(LCAT)은 세포외 콜레스테롤 에스테르화 효소(extracellular cholesterol esterifying enzyme)인 레시틴-콜레스테롤 아실트랜스퍼라제(lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase)를 암호화한다. 콜레스테롤의 에스테르화(esterification)는 콜레스테롤 수송에 필수적이다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이(mutation)는 FISH-eye disease와 LCAT 결핍증(LCAT deficiency)을 일으키는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
