이 유전자는 세 가지 비동일 사슬로 구성된 세포외 기질 당단백질인 라미닌(laminin)의 감마 3(gamma 3) 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화합니다. 감마 3 사슬은 감마 1 사슬과 가장 유사하며, 라미닌 12(laminin 12)의 구성 요소입니다. 이 단백질은 피부, 심장, 폐, 생식 기관에 광범위하게 발현되며, 특히 폐, 난관, 부고환, 정관, 정세관의 섬모 상피 세포의 정단 표면에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
