유전자 개요
LAMC1은 라미닌(laminin) 감마 1 사슬(chain) 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하며, 이 단백질은 세포외기질(extracellular matrix, ECM) 당단백질 군인 라미닌의 이종삼량체(heterotrimer) 조립에 필수적이다. 라미닌은 기저막(basement membrane)의 주요 비콜라겐성 구성 성분으로 세포 접착, 분화, 이동, 신호전달, 신경돌기 성장(neurite outgrowth) 및 전이(metastasis) 등에 관여한다. 상동 재조합(homologous recombination)으로 LAMC1의 양 대립유전자(allele)를 불활성화한 유전자변형 마우스(transgenic mouse)의 배아(embryo)에서는 기저막이 형성되지 않았고, 사람에서는 다중 폴리아데닐화 부위(polyadenylation sites)를 이용해 5.5 kb와 7.5 kb 크기의 mRNA 두 종류가 생성된다.
