유전자 개요
LAMB2 유전자는 라민닌(laminin) beta 2 사슬 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하며, 이 사슬은 신경근접합부(neuromuscular junction)의 근육 기저막(basement membrane), 신장 사구체(glomerulus), 혈관 평활근(vascular smooth muscle)에 풍부하게 분포한다. 상동 재조합(homologous recombination)으로 beta 2 사슬 유전자가 불활성화된 형질전환 마우스는 신경근접합부 성숙 장애와 사구체 여과 기능 손상을 보였다. 또한 이 유전자 5’ UTR의 비보편적 5’ 스플라이스 부위(gc)를 포함한 선택적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)이 보고되었다.
