유전자 개요
이 단백질은 각질(keratin) 유전자 계통에 속하는 II형 세포각질(cytokeratin)로, 단순 및 층상 상피 조직의 분화 과정에서 이종형(heterotypic) 각질 사슬의 한 짝으로 공동 발현된다. 내장 기관의 체강을 싸는 단순 상피와 선관(gland ducts) 및 혈관(blood vessels)에서 특이적으로 발현하며, 관련 유전자들은 염색체 12q12-q13 영역에 군집해 있다. 또한, 선택적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)이 나타날 수 있다.
