유전자 개요
이 단백질은 케라틴(keratin) 계열의 구성원이다. 케라틴은 상피세포(epithelial cells)의 구조적 완전성을 담당하는 중간섬유(intermediate filament) 단백질로, 세포질 케라틴과 모발 케라틴으로 세분화된다. 제1형 세포질 케라틴은 이종(heterotypic) 케라틴 연쇄 쌍으로 배열되는 산성 단백질로 구성된다. 관련 계열 구성원과 달리, 이 가장 작은 산성 세포질 케라틴은 상피세포에서 염기성 세포질 케라틴과 쌍을 이루지 않는다. 발달 중인 표피를 둘러싸는 일시적인 표층인 과배(periderm)에서 특이적으로 발현된다. 제1형 세포질 케라틴은 염색체 17q12-q21 영역에 군집되어 있다.
