유전자 개요
칼리크레인(kallikreins)은 다양한 생리 기능을 갖는 세린 단백질분해효소(serine proteases) 계열이다. 많은 칼리크레인이 암(cancer) 발생과 관련이 있으며, 일부는 새로운 암 및 기타 질병의 바이오마커(biomarker)로서 잠재력을 가진다는 증거가 늘고 있다. 이 유전자는 염색체 19번의 집단에 위치한 15개의 칼리크레인 하위 계열 구성원 중 하나이다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternate splicing) 및 대체 프로모터(alternate promoter)의 사용은 별도로 발현되는 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)를 암호화하여 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 생성한다.
