이 유전자는 짧은 세포질 꼬리를 가진 단백질을 암호화하는 하플로타입 특이적 계열 구성원입니다. 킬러 세포 면역글로불린 유사 수용체(Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors, KIRs)는 자연 살해 세포와 T세포 아형에서 발현되는 막관통 당단백질입니다. KIR 단백질은 세포 외 면역글로불린 도메인 수(2D 또는 3D)와 긴(L) 또는 짧은(S) 세포질 도메인 유무에 따라 분류됩니다. 대체 스플라이싱은 여러 전사체 변이를 일으킵니다.
