유전자 개요

JAG2 유전자는 배아 발달에 필수적인 세포 간 신호 전달 기전인 Notch 신호 전달 경로에 관여한다. Notch 유전자 계열 구성원은 다양한 세포 운명 결정에 중요한 막 통과 수용체(transmembrane receptor)를 암호화한다. 이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 Notch 및 관련 수용체를 활성화하는 여러 리간드(ligand) 중 하나이다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 두 개의 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
