유전자 개요

JAG1 유전자는 초파리 jagged 단백질의 인간 상동체(homolog)인 jagged 1 단백질을 암호화한다. 인간 jagged 1은 수용체(receptor) notch 1의 리간드(ligand)이며, notch 1은 신호 전달 과정에 관여한다. Jagged 1 단백질을 변화시키는 돌연변이는 Alagille 증후군(syndrome)을 유발한다. Jagged 1이 notch 1을 통해 신호를 전달하는 것은 조혈 작용(hematopoiesis)에도 관여하는 것으로 나타났다.
