이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 혈액으로 분비되어 혈장 칼리크레인(plasma kallikrein)에 의해 두 개의 작은 형태로 절단됩니다. 이 유전자의 발현은 간에서만 확인되었으며, 수술 외상 중에 상향 조절되는 것으로 보입니다. 해당 유전자는 염색체 3번 상의 유사 유전자 클러스터의 일부입니다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 지정하는 두 개의 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었습니다.
