ITGB3는 인테그린 베타 사슬 베타 3(integrin beta chain beta 3)을 암호화한다. 인테그린(integrin)은 알파 사슬과 베타 사슬로 이루어진 세포막 관통 단백질(integral cell-surface protein)로, 하나의 사슬이 여러 파트너 사슬과 결합해 서로 다른 인테그린을 구성할 수 있으며, 인테그린 베타 3은 혈소판(platelet)에서 알파 IIb 사슬과 함께 발견된다. 인테그린은 세포 접착(cell adhesion)과 세포표면 매개 신호전달(cell-surface mediated signalling)에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있다.
