유전자 개요
이 유전자에 의해 암호화되는 단백질은 인터루킨(interleukin) 1 사이토카인(cytokine) 계열의 일원이다. 이 사이토카인은 인터루킨 18 수용체(IL18R1/IL-1Rrp)에 결합할 수 있으며, 인터루킨 18의 억제적 결합 단백질인 IL18BP에도 결합한 뒤 IL18 수용체 베타 아단위와 복합체를 형성하여 IL18의 활성을 억제한다. 이 유전자는 다른 8개의 인터루킨 1 계열 유전자와 함께 제2 염색체에 사이토카인 유전자 군집을 이룬다.
