유전자 개요
IL21R 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 인터루킨 21(IL21)의 사이토카인 수용체(cytokine receptor)로, I형 사이토카인 수용체(type I cytokine receptor)에 속한다. 이 수용체는 인터루킨 2, 4, 7, 9, 15 수용체와도 공유되는 공통 감마 사슬(common gamma-chain)과 이종 이량체(heterodimeric) 수용체 복합체를 형성하여 IL21의 성장 촉진 신호를 전달하고, T 세포, B 세포, 자연살해(NK) 세포의 증식과 분화에 중요하다. 리간드(ligand) 결합은 JAK1, JAK3, STAT1, STAT3를 포함한 하류 신호 분자를 활성화시키며, 소우 녹아웃(knockout) 연구는 면역글로불린(immunoglobulin) 생성 조절에 관여함을 시사하고 세 가지 선택적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing) 전사 변이체가 보고되었다.
