이 유전자는 인터루킨-17C(interleukin-17C)의 수용체(receptor)로 작용하는 막 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 미토겐 활성화 단백질 키나아제(mitogen activated protein kinase, MAPK) 경로의 하위 구성 요소로 신호를 전달한다. 이 단백질의 활성은 세균 병원체에 대한 면역 반응에 중요하다. 이 유전자에 대해 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이형들이 기술되었다.
