이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 사이토카인(cytokine) 수용체(receptor)로, IL17B와 IL17E에 특이적으로 결합하며 IL17 및 IL17C에는 결합하지 않는다. 이 수용체는 IL17E에 의해 유도되는 NF-kappaB 활성화와 IL8 생성을 매개하며, 쥐의 상동 유전자 발현은 장 염증(inflammation) 동안 유의하게 상향조절되어 이 수용체의 면역조절 활성을 시사한다.
