IL11RA는 조혈 사이토카인 수용체(hematopoietic cytokine receptor) 계열에 속하는 IL-11 수용체를 암호화한다. 인터루킨 11(Interleukin 11)은 고친화성 수용체에서 gp130 신호전달 소단위를 사용하는 다면발현성·중복 기능 사이토카인 계열에 속하는 기질세포 유래 사이토카인이다. 이 수용체는 면역글로불린(immunoglobulin) 유사 도메인과 사이토카인 수용체 유사 도메인으로 이루어진 2개 도메인 구조의 세포외 영역을 지녀 섬모신경영양인자(ciliary neurotrophic factor)와 매우 유사하며, 여러 선택적 스플라이싱 전사체 변이가 보고되어 있다.
