이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 사이토카인(cytokine) 수용체(receptor) 계열에 속하며, 활성 인터루킨 10(IL10) 수용체 복합체에 필수적인 보조 사슬이다. 이 단백질과 IL10RA 단백질의 공동 발현은 IL10(인터루킨 10)에 의한 신호 전도에 필요하다. 또한 이 유전자는 인터페론(interferon) 수용체(receptor) 유전자인 IFAR2, IFNAR1, IFNGR2와 함께 21번 염색체의 작은 영역에 위치한 class II 사이토카인(cytokine) 수용체(receptor) 유전자 군집을 형성한다.
