유전자 개요

IKBA는 여러 개의 안키린 반복 도메인(ankyrin repeat domain)을 포함하는 NF-kappa-B 저해제(inhibitor) 계열 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 REL 이합체와 상호작용하여 염증 반응에 관여하는 NF-kappa-B/REL 복합체를 저해하며, 핵 위치 신호(nuclear localization signal)와 CRM1 매개 핵 외수송을 통해 세포질(cytoplasm)과 핵(nucleus) 사이를 오간다. IKBA 유전자의 돌연변이는 T세포 면역결핍을 동반하는 무한성 외배엽 이형성증(anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia) 상염색체 우성 질환에서 발견되었다.
