유전자 개요
IGFBP6는 동일 단백질 결합 활동(identical protein binding activity)과 인슐린 유사 성장 인자 II(insulin-like growth factor II) 결합 활동을 수행하며, 세포 이동(cell migration)과 스트레스 활성화 MAPK 캐스케이드(MAPK cascade)의 양성 조절에 참여한다. 인슐린 유사 성장 인자(insulin-like growth factor) 이중 복합체를 구성하고 비만(obesity)과도 연관된다. 유방암(breast cancer), 점막 내 암종(in situ carcinoma), 평활근종(leiomyoma), 신생혈관 염증성 유리체 망막병증(neovascular inflammatory vitreoretinopathy)의 바이오마커(biomarker)로 알려져 있다.
