유전자 개요
이 유전자는 세포간 부착 분자(ICAM) 계열에 속하는 단백질을 암호화한다. 모든 ICAM 단백질은 제1형 막관통형 당단백질로, 2~9개의 면역글로불린 유사 C2형 도메인을 포함하며, 백혈구 부착 LFA-1 단백질에 결합한다. 이 단백질은 모든 백혈구에 의해 구성적이고 풍부하게 발현되며, 면역 반응 개시에 있어 LFA-1의 가장 중요한 리간드일 수 있다. 이 단백질은 부착 분자뿐만 아니라 강력한 신호 분자로서도 기능한다. 대안적 스플라이싱은 다양한 동종단형을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체를 생성한다.
