유전자 개요
HMGA1 유전자는 염색질(chromatin) 관련 단백질을 암호화하며, 유전자 전사(transcription) 조절, 레트로바이러스의 염색체 삽입, 암(cancer) 세포의 전이 진행에 관여합니다. 이 단백질은 이중 나선 DNA에서 AT 염기 서열이 풍부한 영역의 작은 홈에 우선적으로 결합합니다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었습니다. 또한, 이 유전자의 유사 위유전자(pseudogene)가 여러 염색체에서 확인되었습니다.
