유전자 개요

이 유전자는 2-하이드록시산 산화효소(2-hydroxyacid oxidase) 활성을 가지지만, 암호화된 단백질의 아미노산 서열, 조직 발현, 기질(substrate) 선호도에서 차이를 보이는 세 개의 관련 유전자 중 하나이다. 암호화된 단백질은 퍼옥시솜(peroxisome)에 위치한다. 구체적으로, 이 유전자는 주로 간과 췌장에서 발현되며, 암호화된 단백질은 두 탄소 기질인 글리콜레이트(glycolate)에 가장 활성이 높다. 또한 2-하이드록시 지방산에도 활성을 보인다. 췌장에서 높은 수준으로 검출된 전사체는 대안적 스플라이싱 형태나 다수의 근접한 폴리아데닐화 부위 사용을 나타낼 수 있다.
