유전자 개요
GSN이 암호화하는 단백질은 액틴(actin) 단위체(monomer)와 필라멘트(filament)의 플러스 말단(plus end)에 결합하여 단위체 교환을 막는다. 칼슘 조절(calcium-regulated) 단백질로서 액틴 필라멘트의 조립과 해체 양쪽에 모두 관여하며, 이 유전자의 결함은 가족성 아밀로이드증 핀란드형(familial amyloidosis Finnish type, FAF)의 원인이 된다. 서로 다른 여러 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 다중 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 보고되어 있다.
