성장 호르몬 방출 호르몬(growth hormone-releasing hormone) 수용체(receptor)를 지정하는 유전자이다. 이 호르몬이 수용체에 결합하면 성장 호르몬의 합성 및 분비가 유도된다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 왜소증(Dwarfism of Sindh)이라고도 불리는 고립성 성장 호르몬 결핍증(isolated growth hormone deficiency, IGHD)과 연관이 있으며, 이는 작은 키가 특징인 질환이다.
