유전자 개요

이 유전자는 GATA 계열의 아연-인자 전사 인자(transcription factor) 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 계열의 구성원들은 많은 유전자의 프로모터에 존재하는 GATA 모티프를 인식한다. 이 단백질은 배 발생, 심근 분화 및 기능에 관련된 유전자를 조절하며, 정상적인 고환의 발달에 필수적이다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 심장 중격 결손과 관련이 있다. 또한, 유전자 발현의 변화는 여러 암종과 관련이 있다. 대안적 스플라이싱은 여러 전사체 변이체를 생성한다.
