가스트린은 위 점막의 염산 분비를 촉진하여 가스트린 생성을 억제하는 호르몬이다. 이 호르몬은 위장관 상피세포의 증식 인자로도 작용한다. 가스트린은 생물학적으로 활성을 띠는 두 가지 펩타이드 형태인 G34와 G17이 있다.
