GAS1(Growth arrest-specific 1)은 성장 억제(growth suppression)에 역할을 한다. GAS1은 S phase 진입을 차단하고 정상 세포와 형질전환 세포(transformed cells)의 세포 주기(cell cycle) 진행을 억제한다. 이 유전자는 추정 종양 억제 유전자(putative tumor suppressor gene)로 여겨진다.
